InnospeXion ApS is a specialised SME employing 5 academics and is continuously undergoing rapid expansion. This young company already has strong national and international connections. The main business area of InnospeXion is development, design and manufacture of high technology X-ray imaging & measurement systems. The company also offers services provided to manufacturers of a great variety of parts and components of a more advanced nature. In addition InnospeXion undertakes specific technical developments on implementing advanced quality control in production lines.
The research at InnospeXion is mainly centred on quality control and monitoring; NDT is performed primarily by use of X-ray imaging, X-ray energy dispersive measurements, shearography and thermography. Service inspection is performed, based on samples submitted for structural integrity assessment according to the customer's specific demands. These services are directed towards quality control checks, spot tests for structural integrity / quality assessment, evaluation of internal geometry and for selection of samples and sample volumes for destructive (e.g. mechanical) tests. InnospeXion has successfully developed and manufactured new and novel inspection systems for a range of customers with very diverse demands.
Reasons for participating
Dr. Jørgen Rheinländer, who holds a PhD in Physics and a MSc, is the director of the company and will be a key member of the PSC. The primary commercial interest lies in the market opportunities for fast highly accurate digital inspection technology. The current situation is that systems have to be demonstrated before they are adopted, and R&D efforts and hence costs are too high to enable SMEs to take a role in this regard. InnospeXion will develop inspection methodology based on X-ray real-time image detection using the most innovative and fast imaging detector available. InnospeXion will apply the principles learned from activities in the SUSPRONET network as well as marketing & exploitation approaches as learned from the INNOPSE RTD project, and combine these with the results & achievements of this project.
Role in the project
WP-B Manager: PSC: InnospeXion has substantial experience with EU projects through collaboration and co-ordination of completed and current research projects which will be relevant for the co-ordination of the horizontal actions. To this, InnospeXion will draw upon their experiences from the co-ordination of the Casting Cluster (FWP5) and of a thematic network.
ReNEWIT is a collaboration between the following organisations: TWI Ltd, NDT Solutions Ltd, LOT Oriel GmbH, Laser Optical
Engineering (LOE) Ltd, InnospeXion ApS, Fairwind, Hexcel, Vestas, Miltech, Technical University Sofia (TUS), Zenon.
The project is co-ordinated and managed by TWI Ltd and is partly funded by the EC under the CRAFT programme ref: COOP-CT-2003-508600.
